Stranger Danger Safety Checklist
Many of us are taught from a very young age not to talk to strangers, thousands of children all over the world are abducted every year. In many ways we are all at risk with respect to stranger danger, we all need to do our part to educate children and families on this very important safety concern. Use these checklists as a guide to teach your child about stranger danger.
Amber Alert
- Teach your child not to ever get into any one's car without your permission.
- Explain, show and practice with your child how to move away from vehicles that pull over next to them if they do not recognize the driver.
- Provide key messages that you don't need to be out of your home to have a risky situation. Have them understand how it's very important to never have them answer the door if they are home alone or awake in the house while other family members may be sleeping
- Explain to your child how important it is that they do not play in deserted areas or alone in a park or other public place.

- Teach your child all your contact details
- Always be aware of where your child is and who their friends are including contact numbers and addresses.
- Know the different kinds of strangers that your child can be safe with.
- The buddy system is always better than being alone.
- Have a password for you and your child to build trust.
- Teach your child about tactics that a sex offender will use.
